beliefs.
According to devotees of Sai Baba's mission does not include the creation of a new religion, sect or cult, which has caused people of different religions come to him, but ultimately leave their own religion.
says the main goal is to "encourage and motivate the individual in pursuit of self-realization. People who have their own faith should deepen it, without being disturbed."
The universal nature of its mission is represented in the Sarva Dharma or emblem symbolically uniting all religions.
Sai Baba is famous for its healing, for alleged materialization a variety of substances divided between the public (including hot meals and liquids), for its supposed ability of bi-location, teleportation, levitation and precognition, and its light phenomena.
have been limited studies by psychic investigators from the West, have failed to prove the validity of paranormal feats. Soon
, Sathya Sai Baba attracted followers astonished by his miracles and captivated by his personality but many criticized and rejected. Erlendur Haraldsson, a psychologist at the University of Iceland and psychic researcher, began in 1973 an investigation of paranormal phenomena associated with Sai Baba which lasted for ten years. For that it had to make several trips to India to interview to Sai Baba, his followers and his critics, repeatedly being accompanied by Karlis Osis, who by then was part of the American Society for Psychical Research, in a shot Dr. Michael Thalbourne, University of Washington, and on another occasion by Dr. Joot Houtkooper, University of Amsterdam.
Sai Baba refused to submit to controlled experiments to verify their psychic powers thus making it impossible to obtain irrefutable evidence. Haraldsson
investigations established that the precognitive predictions of Sai Baba not always accurate and that all priests are not effective.
organization.
Details of how the organization of Sai Baba were revealed by Harii Sampath, a former member of the Corps of Intelligence and Security Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram. In a letter
former devotee says, "I want to share with everyone several comments I could do about Sai Baba operation during my years as a member of the intelligence and security of the Ashram. First I want to tell you what I know for fact. Sai Baba is a huge fraud and a lot of people helping at different levels. The majority of more aid and assistance would be more active a circle of no more than six to ten individuals, almost all Indians, who have been with Sai Baba for decades. It is precisely this group, which has a total control of the funds and that responds only and directly to Sai Baba .
later revealed that a second level, possibly a number between 0:20, this includes some foreign and sometimes responding directly to Baba, but usually have to go through the inner circle. They do not control the trusts, but if you have limited access to some of the funds as will enable them to Sai Baba and his inner circle intimate.
According Harii Sampath some of the functions of the second group is to support the base of the first group to maintain the myth of Sai Baba "live" abroad, promoting activities among foreign devotees, subtly organizing donations of large sums of money and most importantly, promoting the show " miracles ", both among the devotees as among foreign nationals.
The inner circle and closer to Sai Baba are usually members of the Central Trust Sai Baba and very rarely change. This trust also includes a very eminent men with high positions, but these "public figures" are never given the authority to manage the funds, but rather are to be an efficient link in the waiting rooms power and add an aura of respectability to the Sai Organisation.
The reward for these lower-level executives for their "loyalty" is an annual interview with Sai Baba arranged by members of the trust's second level. Most of these people do not know the full story of Sai Baba, some of them even believe that Sai Baba is "divine" and mighty and act with misguided beliefs. Others know exactly what is happening and are only doing their part to get "promotion" as they would in any other business. These are the ones who prepared all the conferences,
Reports.
In an article in the magazine " India Today ", published on December 4, 2000, a group of former devotees tell the truth about Sai Baba.
The magazine notes that" for former devotees of Sathya Sai is as if in an instant had lost their god forever. It is a devastating experience that transports them to a promised 'moksha' (liberation) to a private hell. A disappointment that has three stages - denial, grief and indignation .
main complaints of this group are focused on to note that the "Hindu god" is nothing more than a sexual abuser of children and young people. One of them is Jeff Young , an American who until recently was president of the Sai Organisation in the region South Central United States.
Young contends that his son Sam was sexually molested by the man-god from 1997-when Sam was 16 years until 1999. The same complaint was first published in the Daily Telegraph of London. Young
For this was a frightening experience, especially because they had twenty years of bowing to Baba.
The magazine says that now they " shudder to think that they felt" blessed, "believing that the man-god was attending to the spiritual welfare of his child and claims that during that time Sam was subjected to systematic sexual abuse . On one visit, they remember having received 7 private interviews, while Sam was called to interview him only 21 times .
In recent months, a litany of allegations similar to those of Young have surfaced, mostly inspired by a document called "The Findings", written by English former devotee, David Bailey, who has become the leading exhibitor and collector of the many complaints from former devotees of Baba.
One of these complainants is Hari Sampat an engineer from Chicago who served as a volunteer for internal security in the ashram Baba from 1992 to 1995 who states "have heard of these activities pederasty." research and to find they were real. It was then that I realized I had to expose everything. "
Sampat, and others like him in the UK, U.S., Europe and Australia have identified victims of sexual abuse of Baba and have been encouraged to make their stories in the media of different countries.
These growing claims are now being taken very seriously in many western countries, causing a proliferation of defections from Sai Baba groups.
In Britain, after the article in the Daily Telegraph, the Labour MP, Tony Colman, introduced the issue in Parliament. A former minister Tom Sackville called also addressed the issue by saying that "the authorities have done little so far and that's a shame." There is now a movement to urge the British government to express warnings to people wanting to visit Baba's ashram.
also in Australia, The Sunday Age ran an article on sexual abuse of Baba.
In Munich, Germany, Jens Sethi, a former devotee who claims he was molested has also filed a complaint in the office of Attorney General.
In Sweden, the central group Sai has closed its doors, and a school-based educational programs designed by educators Baba's ashram in Puttaparthi. In the United States, disillusioned devotees are "bombing" the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Journal notes that these allegations against the group around Baba insider attacks sexual abuse charges in two ways. One simply denouncing it as anti-Hindu attacks, especially because most of those making the charges are foreigners. And two, preaching that all that Baba does is a "teaching." Even when doing something that looks as immoral and wrong. They claim to do it for a purpose and therefore can not be questioned.
So far, no formal complaints have been made in India. Does this mean that most of the abuses were carried out with westerners? Jed Geyerhahn, an American who claims to have been bothered by Baba when he was 16 years, disagrees with that theory "What I believe is that young people are saying Westerners and Indians. Young Westerners do not have much to lose."
Most of these disillusioned former devotees say they are determined to fight to start some kind of legal action and keep pushing until something happens.
Conny Larson, of Sweden, was a devotee of Baba for 21 years. Their allegations first appeared in the Daily Telegraph of London on 20 October this year
" Baba called me to private interviews. I did not know was happening between him and me, but I believed him when he said that he was God and was helping me with my problems . "
More testimonials.
Gurprit Jens Sethi and Britain wrote a letter that told the whole story of his relationship with Baba. " I'm giving a detailed narrative of my traumatic experiences with Sathya Sai Baba and hopefully this will be to help people understand what he is. All details are correct and can be considered a witness. I could , and so would, testify in court following open "says Sethi. " I have 35 years I've been interested in the spiritual since childhood. For a long time was devoted to Jesus and Padre Pio, then, after reading" The Autobiography of a Yogi "by Yogananda, I leaned toward the path of yoga .
Later reports that in October 1988 was converted into an ardent follower of Sathya Sai Baba, and went to Puttaparthi for the first time in September 1989. " Since then I visited Puttaparthi every year and was totally absorbed in the aura of Sai Baba. I was totally convinced it was an Avatar and became so devoted that he was thinking and looking only him all the time, "said former devotee
notes that in 1993 began to suspect a bit due to the lifestyle of Sai Baba and activities in the ashram. " expensive every year saw new buildings and felt that it was developing a growing market. In 1996 I saw Baba leaving the ashram in an expensive "Jaguar" and other expensive cars as a "Mercedes" and "BMW" most expensive line .
" I hope this nightmare will end soon and I hope by the grace of the Almighty, all in the world find out about the misdeeds of Sai Baba, a mighty demon who came in the guise of a saint illegitimate, only interested in self-glorification, name and fame. He is a master of deception .
The same story of disappointment the former president lived in north central Iowa (USA), who resigned his post on May 28, 2000.
In his letter Shirley Pike notes that " the reason for my resignation probably will shock and dismay to many of you. A few weeks ago I received information from a devoted companion of many years about an email he had received concerning acts of pedophilia by Sathya Sai Baba . I asked him to send me email and personally investigated the information contained therein. I spoke personally with several individuals who had direct experience with the inappropriate behavior of Sai Baba. These guys are reputable, credible and intelligent and have no commitment to simply complain. I came out of those conversations believing such individuals and therefore I have resigned and that is why I am writing this letter .
later states that "'m sorry because I have come to believe that Sai Baba is a charlatan who has used the power received through the love and the reverence of his followers and the truths of the ancient Vedic doctrine and scripture to molesting children and youth from age 8 to 30 years .
famous Miracle?
Regarding the many miracles are attributed to the same Sampath Sai Baba, a former member of the Security Intelligence Corps, said are lies and what they intend to attract the attention of more " faithful.
For example was the alleged miracle of a rescue in a car accident in Germany in which it is said that an elderly couple from Germany were visiting Baba for the first time in Abbotsbury, Madras, where Baba was staying. They were sitting in the front row and when Sai Baba, after which they were passing by, stopped, turned back and said, " His daughter and her husband were about to be hit by a truck on a highway in Germany I saved them. "Indeed the accident but the truth was different. Sampath noted that the daughter and son-they had a narrow escape from a collision with a truck and had called the hotel where he was staying the elderly couple in Chennai to tell. As the couple had already left the hotel to go to see Baba, the message was passed to a member of the group that had come, who rushed to Abbotsbury to tell but could not get the darshan because all ranks were already full , so he passed the message to one of the main volunteers who came to the couple from Germany who was inside. Upon hearing the news, it came to Sai Baba through a person, who said: "By the grace of Swami, the daughter and son of the German couple just saved from a car accident in Germany." Sai Baba, of course, smiled and said "I know , I know ... .
Another alleged miracles they have is one that circulated in 1996 when an airplane preparing to land in Venezuela, began to have serious problems. The pilot announced that all was lost. A devotee of Sai Baba prayed board Sai Baba and Sai Baba was to appear in the sky!
wore the right palm facing up and really looked like he was holding the plane until it landed safely. The Sai Baba devotee quickly pulled out his camera and took a picture of " Swami in the sky between the clouds . This incident was reported in the newspaper" Times Venezuela "as:" Hindu Holy appears in the air to save plane.
Reality - account former devotee - was the woman - who was holding the book "Avatar" which has the photo of Sai Baba - entered panic and portrayed what she thought she was looking out the airplane window. The situation of the aircraft was right and landed without any problems.
